Tra Vinh University Artificial Intelligence Center successfully hosts the seminar: “AI and Intellectual Property: What IT Students Need to Know”

On the afternoon of October 15, 2026, the Artificial Intelligence Center of Tra Vinh University successfully hosted a seminar entitled “AI and Intellectual Property: What IT Students Need to Know” in Meeting Room C51.202 at the School of Engineering and Technology. The event attracted more than 40 Information Technology students.

The seminar featured Dr. Jacob Ryan Adams from the University of Stavanger, Norway, who shared his insights on the fundamental role of intellectual property in the rapidly evolving era of artificial intelligence (AI).

During the seminar, Dr. Jacob Ryan Adams helped students develop a clearer understanding of three key legal concepts in the technology sector:

  • Patent: Protects technical solutions and technological inventions.
  • Copyright: Protects literary and artistic works, software, and source code.
  • Trademark: Protects distinctive signs used to identify a company’s products and services.

The discussion session was particularly lively, with the relationship between AI and copyright attracting considerable interest from students. IT students actively raised questions about practical legal challenges, such as: “Does using AI tools to generate content or write code constitute copyright infringement?” and “Who owns the rights to AI-generated products?”

The speaker’s direct responses helped students better understand the legal boundaries and copyright regulations involved in applying AI to their studies and the development of real-world products.

Through this seminar, the Artificial Intelligence Center of Tra Vinh University reaffirmed its commitment to supporting students not only in developing technical expertise but also in raising awareness of intellectual property. The Center aims to foster a responsible and ethical community for technology research and development.
