Tra Vinh University students have developed an AI-integrated virtual campus tour system, which was recently featured in the Science and Technology segment of THVL4
Recently, the Science and Technology segment of Vinh Long Radio and Television (THVL4) featured several outstanding research projects developed by students of the School of Engineering and Technology at Tra Vinh University. Among the featured projects was an AI-integrated virtual campus tour system, a product that demonstrates the students’ research capabilities, creativity, and proficiency in emerging technologies.
As the professional and technological advisor for the project, the Tra Vinh University Artificial Intelligence Center is proud to highlight the outstanding capstone project developed by Nguyen Thanh Hieu, a 2023 cohort student majoring in Information Technology. The project goes beyond a conventional information website, evolving into a modern interactive digital environment with strong practical applicability.
The system recreates the entire university campus using 360-degree imaging technology, 2.5D models, and interactive 3D characters, providing users with an intuitive and engaging virtual tour experience. A key feature of the project is the application of a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) model to retrieve authoritative institutional data from the university. This enables the system to provide information in a flexible and natural manner while maintaining a high level of accuracy and minimizing the risk of AI-generated misinformation or hallucinated content.

In addition, the solution integrates an AI Agent to coordinate and manage multiple tasks within a unified digital environment, thereby enhancing the overall user interaction experience. This approach reflects current trends in the development of next-generation intelligent assistant systems.
Commenting on the project’s potential applications, Mr. Nguyen Nhut Lam, Director of the Tra Vinh University Artificial Intelligence Center and the project’s academic supervisor, stated that the project had been oriented toward practical needs from its initial development stage. The system could effectively support student recruitment, institutional branding and promotion, while also creating opportunities for the development of smart spatial management applications in the future.

The successful completion of the project demonstrates the effectiveness of an educational environment at Tra Vinh University that integrates academic learning, research, and innovation. At the same time, it further affirms the pioneering role of the Tra Vinh University Artificial Intelligence Center in bridging academic knowledge and practical applications, contributing to the development of a high-quality workforce capable of meeting the needs of society.
